AWARENESS
PTSD in the News. In order to be a productive and effective PTSD advocate - for ourselves and those who are not yet strong enough to speak out - it’s important to know what’s going on in the PTSD world. This includes understanding the latest research, keeping abreast of PTSD activity in the political arena, being up to date with the media coverage, reading about how survivors struggle with PTSD and learning about world views of PTSD are shaped.
What You Can Do. Every voice counts. In order to raise awareness so that more people are diagnosed earlier and receive faster and more proper treatment the world needs to learn more about PTSD - its causes, effects, symptoms, prevalence, treatment and healing. The more quickly and easily PTSD is recognized the more effectively people can find relief. Your personal experience with PTSD, either as someone who struggles with PTSD or as someone who loves and supports those who do, makes your voice a valuable tool in any awareness campaign. You’ve learned, done and seen things that can help others suffer less. Join those who are speaking out today!
Other Voices: PTSD Blogs of Note. Many survivors and their supporters are already waging their own awareness campaign by covering, exposing and exploring all aspects of the PTSD experience. Flesh out your own ideas by reading theirs, and build the awareness community by commenting on and keeping up with these fantastic bloggers.
