PTSD Healing Thought of the Week: Change Your Thinking

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011 • PTSD Healing Thought of the Week

The funny thing about trauma is that two people can go through the exact same experience and come out with enormously different perceptions and responses. Which reminds me always that a large part of our response to trauma has to doPTSD, Healing Thought of the Weekwith what we each individually think about it.

Albert Einstein said,

The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking.

I know you can see what this has to do with PTSD recovery. If you hold onto all of those original post-trauma thoughts it’s hard to change anything. What’s one piece of thinking that you can change today? I wonder how that will affect how you see the entire world….

You have enormous healing potential. The goal is learning to access it.Dig deep. You can do this. I believe in you!

Your site is very encouraging! Especially right now when I feel like nothing can get better.

I’m working right now on awareness of negative thoughts about myself so it’s like you just gave me a little reminder to do my homework!!

I have an art blog about my experiences at the beginning of my healing process – http://theptsddance.blogspot.com/ – but it’s nice to hear the thoughts of someone who has come out the other side of the PTSD journey!
