PTSD Healing Thought of the Week: Train Your Brain
Sunday, October 24th, 2010 • PTSD Healing Thought of the Week •
I’m reading TRAIN YOUR MIND, CHANGE YOUR BRAIN, by Sharon Begley. I can barely put the book down. It’s about advances in
neuroscience and how they impact what we know, think and believe about the brain.
One of the things we PTSDers often hear is about how PTSD changes the brain. I’ve spoken with a neuroscientist about what it would take to change it back; he assured me change is possible.
Last night in Begley’s book I read this statement:
The environment and our experiences change our brain, so who you are as a person changes by virtue of the environment you live in and the experiences you have.
Hold onto this thought today: You are mutable. You are forever changeable. The brain has vast capabilities and is designed to change. It changed into PTSD; it can change out of it depending on the experiences you give it.
The experiences YOU give it. You are in control.
We each have deep healing potential. All you have to do is learn how to tap it.
You can do this. I believe in you!

It is possible to conquer the past and create the future – the first step is choosing to take the journey.
