PTSD Professional Perspective: Butterfly Code — Final Installment
Friday, August 6th, 2010 • PTSD Guest Post: Professional Perspective •
When I invited Mike Blackstone to guest post for the Professional Perspective feature on this blog, it was because I thought he had a cool, er, perspective on how we can become more empowered in our lives. I had no idea how much he would teach me (and all of you!) about how to structure our own perspectives so they are powerful, strong, proactive and courageous. I’m really a little sorry that today is the final installment of the Butterfly Code.
Last month we learned about actively looking for clues that support our committed decision. This month we learn that we — each and every one of us — is the key.
You Are the 7th Key to the Butterfly Code
Inside your psyche is a “neighborhood” you have seldom visited. The Butterfly
Code is a detailed “roadmap” of that neighborhood, and you have been on a tour of that neighborhood over the course of the last 6 installments of Project Butterfly Code. The magic of this neighborhood is therein resides all the elements you will ever need to become the designer and creator of your life. That’s why YOU are the 7th Key. And there is far more to who you are… than who you think you are.
I know. Many of you, deep down, have serious doubts about who you are. Some of you are convinced you are fatally flawed in some way. I have no illusion that I am going to change your mind about yourself in 7 short articles. What I do know is if you explore this neighborhood in yourself using the Butterfly Code, you will discover the five aspects of yourself that, when working together, will resolve any challenge you face…
1. Your Conscious Self. This is the aspect of you that is this moment understanding these words and their meaning as you read along. This part of you resides in the left hemisphere of your brain and is a personality unto itself. Its job is to make committed decisions that the other aspects of yourself can get behind, and they will create the details that unfold those decisions. The 1st and 2nd keys of the Butterfly Code are the conscious self’s evocation for action.
2. Your Vulnerable Self. This aspect of who you are is your honesty as a human and is sincere in its fears, doubts, and feelings. It resides in both hemispheres of your brain, and its job is admitting that humanness and releasing it. The 3rd key of the Code is its evocation — its call to action to express and release fear and doubt.
3. Your Spiritual Self. This is a “You” that is beyond your body — beyond physical. There is good evidence from Kenneth Ring’s work studying common patterns in near death experiences (NDEs) that we have the capability of conscious thought (cognition) even when separated from our body and both hemispheres of our brain. This aspect of you is capable, in my experience, of manifesting what we commonly call providence and bringing to bear metaphysical, extraordinary support for our committed decisions. This aspect of you is evoked in the 4th key of the Code.
4. Your Expectant Self. This aspect of you is in charge of your expectations and desires for fulfilling experiences and a wonderful life, and somewhat paradoxically, also in charge of your faith in positive results. In the 5th key of the Code, this aspect of you is evoked to release micromanagement and attempts to control outcomes, and instead just let them flow.
5. Your Intuitive Self. This aspect of you has access to and is capable of analyzing massive amounts of information around your challenge. It identifies hidden clues supporting your committed decisions from seemingly random information, and is capable of sending you intuitive impulses to act on these clues. This part of you resides in your right hemisphere and is also a personality unto its own. It is evoked to action by the 6th key of the Code.
When all 5 aspects of your self are evoked as a team around a committed decision, challenges begin to move relentlessly toward resolution.
Here Is the Complete Butterfly Code
- Key 1: “I declare, I am decided, determined, and committed to…” (Insert your decision here-what you want, but you must firmly decide here, even though you have no plan, and you have doubts and concerns). “I have little clue how I am going to pull this off, but I will!“
- Key 2: “And for the first step only, tomorrow I will…” (Select a very simple first step you can do tomorrow that would be a logical and natural first step on the path of addressing the issue you’re doing the code for.)
- Key 3: “I have fears, concerns and doubts that this will not work, like….” (Here, specifically state all your doubts, concerns, or fears.) “And yet I remain committed!!!”
- Key 4: “I entrust and surrender the unfolding of this committed decision to all of who I am, to all I am a part of, to all who are a part of me, and to all that is. I have little idea how I am going to pull off this committed decision and I will!”
- Key 5: “I am ready and open for this committed decision to unfold in surprising and unexpected ways, even challenging ways; and for it to unfold in wonderful, delightful, inspiring, satisfying, fulfilling, freeing, fun, funny, and enjoyable ways.”
- Key 6: “I am on the watch for random clues-bits of information, signals, signs, hints-that support this committed decision. And I entrust to my intuition the identification and selection of these random clues, and sending me impulses to act on them.
Many of you wish to make a larger difference in the world — to manifest your most positive destiny. You can use the Butterfly Code to directly discover your destiny. But even if you don’t go that direct route, just using it to overcome challenges in your life begins to, as a natural byproduct, clarify your destiny, mission, and purpose.
Right now, sit quietly and allow your mind to free-associate-go from idea to idea… Within 3 minutes you will come up with a small issue you want to resolve. Use that small issue with the 6 keys of the Code above. Say your Code aloud, right now. But with the 2nd key, say “today,” not tomorrow. Prove to yourself your own capability to create! Surprise yourself. Do it and tell us about it.
I have enjoyed presenting you this encapsulated version of Project Butterfly Code. I wish you the best in its use.
