PTSD Healing Thought of the Week: Celebrating the Joy of Survival

Sunday, August 8th, 2010 • PTSD Healing Thought of the Week

August 31st is the 29th anniversary of my trauma — and I’m celebrating! Here’s what I’m thinking:  michele-rosenthal-standing

We all spend so much time suppressing feelings about our trauma and grimacing over the past. What if we celebrated the joy of our survival instead?

This week I blogged about some exciting things I’ve designed to help all of us learn to cope better with trauma anniversaries. You’re always listening to me; this month I’d like to listen to you, too.

Check out the blog post that explains what’s going on and then shoot me your thoughts in answer to this question:   What helps you cope, manage and even reclaim your trauma anniversary?

I’m compiling a list leading up to a phenomenal free event that I hope you’ll participate in on August 31st (details in the blog post).

Recovering from PTSD means getting out of freeze and into fight mode. It’s all about action. What actions do you take to ease the stress of a particular time of year?

It is possible to conquer the past and create the future – the first step is choosing to take the journey.
