PTSD Healing Thought of the Week: The Tao of Pooh

Sunday, April 18th, 2010 • PTSD Healing Thought of the Week

In Benjamin Duff’s, THE TAO OF POOH, he writes,tao-of-pooh

Mistakes are made – or imagined – by man, the creature with the overloaded Brain…

Even when you think you fail on your healing path, you are making progress.

Don’t allow your overloaded brain to run away with you, or flood you with negative feelings and thoughts. Remind it that every healing experience – even the bad ones – is an opportunity to learn, regroup and plan the next step.

It is possible to conquer the past and create the future – the first step is choosing to take the journey.

I know this feeling far to well. During my recent Intense Trauma Therapy I got introduced to progressive muscle relaxation Jacobsen. This constant switch from tension and release relaxes me and after a while it will create some small “gaps” between my never ending chain of thoughts and even will slow them down. Besides of that the physical movement of letting go the muscle tension lead to the feeling of emotional letting go to. It works well for me.

Thanks, Michele. This message just made my week–I was feeling that pulling down of the PTSD, like I was getting too heavy and not doing a good job. This message was like a hug from my grandmother! Thanks!
