PTSD Professional Perspective: Time Line Therapy
Sunday, November 15th, 2009 • PTSD Guest Post: Professional Perspective •
One of my favorite techniques (which I used in overcoming my own PTSD symptoms) is Time Line Therapy (TLT). Today you’re in for a real treat as Heather Bond, a Professional Services Manager, trainer and coach, explains TLT. Heather’s primary focus is on rebuilding or re-birthing coaching for business, corporate and personal evolvement, helping businesses and individuals through change, not only transforming their results but the core of who they are.
In this guest post Heather gives an explanation of Time Line Therapy and how and why it works.
Time Line Therapy TM an Overview.
I believe Time Line TherapyTM is a powerful and magical set of techniques for bringing about change in people’s lives and for facilitating healing of past emotions, phobias and traumatic events.
It is my personal experience of Time Line TherapyTM that encouraged me to become a practitioner, master practitioner and subsequently a trainer of NLP, NLP Coaching and Time Line Therapy®. I fulfilled my main ambition to qualify as a trainer with Dr. Tad James, the creator of Time Line TherapyTM
My life has not been without its challenges, but it has been my belief and practice of NLP, Hypnosis and Time Line TherapyTM techniques that have helped me grow and move forward.
I have also watched the transformation of my coaching clients and trainees, and trainees on trainings where I have assisted; I am still inspired by the paradigm shifts that take place.
So, Why Would YOU Want to Know About Time Line TherapyTM?
Are you interested in making transformational and lasting change in your life?
Would it be of benefit to you to release all the negative emotions on past events, so you can live your life now free of any inappropriate or unwarranted emotions on current or future events?
Would you like to change past limiting decisions or limiting beliefs that are preventing you from getting the results you want in your life (e.g. “I’m not good enough”) today?
Do you suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or do past events prevent you from living fully in the now?
If any of this is true for you then it is worth taking the time to read about Time Line TherapyTM.
What is Time Line TherapyTM
The concept of time and how we process or relate to time has been pondered for many, many years.
In the 1970′s the founders of NLP revived this interest in time where the focus was on how we subjectively code and experience time.
Dr. Wyatt Woodsmall and Dr. Tad James got together in 1985 and collaborated on research into time line, which culminated in the publishing of their book Time Line Therapy and the Basis of Personality in 1988.
Dr. Tad James continued his research and produced a revolutionary set of techniques and processes called ‘Time Line TherapyTM‘, which can bring about transformative, long lasting results very quickly and effectively. Time Line TherapyTM works to bring about change at the unconscious level where change happens.
How Time Line TherapyTM Works
Time Line TherapyTM works with the client’s concept of time and how he or she stores memories. It assists the client to let go of negative emotions they are holding onto from events in the past (anger, sadness, fear, hurt and guilt), and which are preventing them from getting the results they want in their lives in the present.
Time Line TherapyTM is also used to assist clients to release Decisions and Beliefs that are limiting them in the present. In addition Time Line TherapyTM is used to place goals in the client’s future in order that the goal is more easily achieved.
Time Line Therapy TM works on getting the learnings (which may have been missed with regards to past events) in order to release the emotions and negative attachment to that event; it allows the client to access new resources for the future and allows change to take place at an unconscious level.
This happens without the need for the client to access the content of the event consciously and if they do access the event consciously they do so very briefly.
Furthermore, the event is viewed from a dissociated state for the releasing of emotions and gaining of the learnings before any association into the event takes place.
Time Line TherapyTM is therefore very effective for the releasing of emotion in trauma cases and has been found to be very effective when used with clients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. For example, it has been effectively used with war veterans from Croatia and Afghanistan accelerating recovery to around eight hours of intervention. Research can be found on the Time Line Therapy Associations site.
Heather Bond is currently training in Qigong with an aim to be a master within the next 18 months. She has trained with Jack Canfield (the success coach) in the US as well as with Tad and Adriana James.
