PTSD & Invisible Illness Awareness Week
Monday, September 14th, 2009 • Uncategorized •
Welcome to Invisible Illness Awareness Week (IIWK)! Don’t know what that is? Check it out here, including their weeklong virtual conference.
Last week the founders of IIWK featured my article, “Healing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder:5 Tips for Empowering Your Recovery“.
Today officially launches PARASITES OF THE MIND’s IIWK coverage designed to raise awareness that those struggling with PTSD are dealing with something real even though it cannot be seen. To hear the real time voice of your PARASITES OF THE MIND guide – and why I think your participation in this week’s awareness campaign is important! - click here to hear my thoughts!
In honor of IIWK this Wednesday at 11am EST Heal My PTSD, LLC, launches a new, monthly radio series on BlogTalk Radio. Read the details – and see who the first guest is! – here.
To kickoff the week we were supposed to have a guest post from Joe Pantoliano - you all know him, right? He’s a great actor who’s also become a mental health activist due to his own struggle with unipolar depression. No Kidding, Me Too (NKM2) is Joey Pant’s advocacy organization dedicated to supporting people struggling with mental illness. You can read Joe’s mission here.
Anyway, back to Joe’s guest post…. he recently made a visit to Iraq to support our troops and that’s gotten in the way of his writing schedule so … in lieu of Joe’s writing I’m substituting his face and voice. NKM2 has a terrific advocacy campaign called “Stomp the Stigma”. For all of you who are healing, plus those supporting and living with you while you do – and for those of us who have healed and seek to help others do the same – I hope we can join together in all of our large and small ways to stomp the stigma against PTSD and getting help for it.
Do you have ideas of how we can stomp the PTSD stigma? Leave a comment or email me! The author of the most creative idea will win a FREE healing PTSD coaching session. That’s right, in honor of IIWK I’m adding another contest – but only for this week.
Want to see how easy it is to progress PTSD healing? Join the competition for the chance to change your PTSD mindset.
And now, for Joey Pants….
