PTSD Healing Thought of the Day: Rediscovering Value

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009 • BRIDGE THE GAP Healing Workshop

martin-luther-kingMartin Luther King, Jr. said many deep and insightful things in his life. This one sentence, while not, in his work, applied to the healing process points up something so magnificent about what survivors can do on their healing journey:

If we are to go forward, we must go back and rediscover those precious values…

Not back to who you were before trauma – if you even know who that was.

Instead, back to basics, back to remembering what’s important about who you are.

Back to a focus on discovering what your values are, can or wish to be.

When you reconnect to your most deep, authentic and genuine self you begin to heal in ways that are solid and long-lasting.

What do you value?  What do you believe in? What do you love?
