Hi, Mark - Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As a trauma survivor who used EMDR (to no avail) in my healing process I think I would add to your idea that everyone needs to find what resonates with them in the healing process without seeing methods linked together that don't necessarily go operate in a similar way.

Talk therapy doesn't use imagery the way rescripting does, and imagery - for example - in the way hypnosis uses it is not even close to being a 'subset' of talk therapy. I think all of the information processing techniques (EMDR, EFT, TFT, and TAT), plus NLP and hypnosis reach a deep and meaningful place depending on their administration by the practitioner and the desire and willingness of the survivor to engage in aspects of any particular method.

I would highly recommend EMDR as a valid and highly useful process in healing PTSD. Imagery tends to be seen as primarily a subset of "talk therapy," where EMDR has been known to reach a deeper and more meaningful level of healing quicker.
