PTSD Healing Thought of the Day

In her diary (Vol. II) the famous writer Anais Nin notes,
Man generalizes from experience, and denies the source of his generalizations.
Doesn’t this accurately describe what we PTSDers do?
We experience something and forever going forward say, “Ah! I know what this is all about!” And then we react in a way that feels appropriate.
All the while we forget that the source of our generalization was not the normal but the abnormal.
Trauma is not the default setting for our existence. When we generalize from negative experience we allow its effects to continue.
