PTSD Healing Thought of the Day

users-manualI admit it, I’m a geek - I love to study, which means I’m always reading for information, which means I’m always looking for ways I can learn more about PTSD and healing.

Right now I’m reading, The User’s Manual for the Brain, Vol. 1, by Bob G. Bodenhamer and L. Michael Hall.

Yesterday I came across these lines (bold emphasis added by the Bodenhamer and Hall):

Even though we cannot change historical facts, as making those external events to have never happened, we can change our current internal representations of those events. And, as we change the internal representations, we signal different cues to our brain and body about how to feel about it. By changing how we feel, we change our response.

 It can be done…. we can change
